The Alfred and Sarah Rosenbloom Center on Vision and Aging

The Alfred and Sarah Rosenbloom Center on Vision and Aging at the Illinois Eye Institute provides exceptional care for older adults and individuals with visual impairments. The Center proudly honors Dr. Alfred Rosenbloom—an influential figure in optometry and a longtime leader at the Illinois College of Optometry—and his wife, Sarah, whose legacy continues to inspire our mission.

Designed to feel like a modern private-practice environment, the Rosenbloom Center offers comprehensive onsite clinical services supported by community outreach, educational programs, and leading-edge research initiatives.

For many aging patients, driving safety and DMV requirements are a major concern. Our doctors provide comprehensive driving‑related visual evaluations, including visual field and contrast sensitivity testing. We also assist patients with completing the necessary DMV documentation, allowing them to simply submit the forms at the DMV without needing to undergo an in‑office vision test.

In additional to providing full scope comprehensive eye exams to older adults, the center also focuses on the visual functional needs for those who have lost vision due to ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and inherited retinal diseases through low vision devices, adaptive technology, vision rehabilitation, social services referrals and related occupational therapy.
